silver lining
So I broke my laptop two weeks ago. Not just at a random time by the way, but when I was in the middle of sending the email out for the blog post “leaving”. Thank God I had finished writing it a day or so earlier and wrapped up the edits that morning. My screen cracked as I was carrying it in an admittedly odd way - with only one finger. My thumb pressed it and one side of the screen turned black, then microseconds later, the whole screen started glitching uncontrollably. I really wanted to post “leaving” that morning so best believe I sent out that email with my collapsing computer screen and posted that blog right before my laptop stopped functioning entirely. What a way to start a day! Now, when my screen broke, I honestly thought it was a dream or something, it happened so out of the blue, too sporadically, too quickly. It was so unbelievable that I thought I could rewind the scene that just took place to properly understand what just happened and how. It was surreal. Later that day, I found myself dropping off my laptop at the Apple Store - I wouldn’t have it back for another week. What happened was so incomprehensible and ridiculous that I couldn’t help but start laughing. Was I annoyed? absolutely. But looking back, I think I was more bewildered than annoyed. The point of this story is that on my way to the Apple Store, I realized how much I needed this to happen. I know, very odd reaction to an unfortunate situation, but hear me out - up until that morning, I was having a very boring week. So my laptop breaking was the dopamine dose I needed! I’m glad it happened. It was a rush of excitement that I desperately craved that week. Notwithstanding its sprinkles of confusion and frustration, it was a silver lining. No matter how bad something is, there’s always a light at the end of the tunnel, you just have to be receptive to it. Trying to see the good in everything is the moral of the story I just emphatically narrated to you. I find it’s also a vital skill to have in life ;)
Until the next one
